Nestled in the north part of Palm Beach County is a small Incorporated Village known as North Palm Beach. Its population as of the 2004 US Census Bureau is 12,645. John D MacArthur BART 2600 acres of land in northern Palm Beach County in 1954 four $5.5 million. The rural area which sat on mangrove swamps and farmland was then developed by MacArthur and is now North Palm Beach. According to the United States Census Bureau, the size of the village is a total area of 5.8 square miles
The first mayor of North Palm Beach, Walter E Thomas Jr. Was elected in 1958. The Thomas family was the 55th family to move in to the village. This small municipality has maintained relative prosperity because of its many waterfront homes that line the Atlantic Ocean and is now spurred on by the increase in development in northern Palm Beach County in the last 10 years.
There are many notable residents in North Palm Beach including Jeff Atwater, State Sen.; 25th district, Gardner Dickinson PGA golfer, Mike Douglas famous American entertainer, Ryan Klesko retired Maj. league baseball first baseman, Jack Nicholas golf legend and course architect, Sir Harry Oakes, early developer of the area and Gary Wiren PGA Hall of Famer; famous golf instructor and collector.
